Dance On The Waves I

Painting, 2011 - 2016

The painting set was created as a result of experiments on the surface of the canvas. The images have a unified 1x1m format. The compositions are very simple, mathematically drawn, stiff, less unhampered. Each image is characterized by a narrow range of colors, so the attention is focused on the meaning of the matter that goes beyond the two dimensions. The tears running through the center of the paintings are framed with subsequent layers of paint visible in the cross-section which are representing successive “lives” of the painting.

This symbolic rupture is an expression of breaking the dictatorship of the finished, unmitigated plane of image. This narrow gap is supposed to let to see the place where destruction and construction meet, where the absolute exists. The paintings were made with the gesture of a hand that splashed the paint with a brush onto the canvas without the tool's physical contact with the surface. The way the spots fall into place was determined by gravity but main arrangement directly follows artist intends.
