Setting Sun

Conceptual painting, Video, 2020

The work consists of two black canvas and a video instalation. The parallel lighter smudges were burned out by sunlight. Since the whole painting art is about the light, there is an strong irony that without light there is no paintings, no art, no artists, no life. The sun seems to be something so common, so usual, just given, a part od weather schedule. But it is a force of life, a sign of cosmic order: light and shadow, warmth and burning, life and death. It's each subsequent ray is both life-giving and destructive.

The installation reflects the fascination of the brightest star and tries to capture it's hipnotic beauty affecting all life. The video completes the set of the paintings with a display of the sun disc with background sound of the sun (electromagnetic waves, accelerated and transferred in frequency to the range audible by man).
